Baby’s Mosey Leg Warmers

A few years ago, I knit myself a pair of leg warmers I found a free pattern for on Ravelry. The design was called Mosey, created by Susan Power. They are so warm and cozy that I hardly leave the house without them during the cooler months. No matter where I wear them, I get compliments, and most people can’t believe they’re hand made.

Autumn is setting in quickly, so I’ve been on the hunt for warmer clothes for RT. I found some basic leg warmers on Amazon, but I wanted something a little fancier too. I checked Ravelry for baby leg warmers using fingering weight yarn (because I’m going through a phase). Nothing really called out to me. That’s when I decided to adapt the Mosey pattern.

RT is two months old now, but it’s still the tail end of summer. Therefore, I made some she could grow into. Ideally, she’ll fit in these once it really starts to get cold. The original pattern calls for worsted weight yarn and size 7US needles. For the baby version, I used fingering weight yarn I got as a gift from my brother-in-law, and size 3US DPNs.

I-cord:
When working I-cord, work is not turned. Instead of turning the work around to work back on the WS, slide all sts to the other end of the needle, switch the needle back to your left hand, bring the yarn around the back of the work, and start knitting the sts again. After the first 2 sts, give the yarn a sharp tug.
Repeat this row to form I-cord. After a few rows, the work will begin to form a tube.
