A New Direction

It’s been quite a while since my last entry. A lot of things have been changing over the last few months, and it’s gotten very hectic. We decided that it was time to sell the house. As much as we love it, we bought it to be a homestead, and it takes a lot of work to keep it up, and it’s incredibly far from just about everything. The closest grocery store was over fifteen minutes away by car. The nearest urban center was roughly 45 minutes away. The one time I decided to walk to the convenience store “near” our house, it took me an hour to get there, and an hour to get home. It’s a gorgeous residence, but it doesn’t fit our needs the way we originally envisioned.

During this time of upheaval, I’m also striving to get back into the work force. I’ve picked up my web design business quite a bit. I created new layouts for two sites last Monday alone. I have even more lined up. I also reapplied for my cosmetology license. I allowed it to expire several years back when I moved out of state for a time. Cosmetology licenses only apply to the state where they were issued. However, it’s something I’ve always enjoyed and had a real passion for. When I contacted the state board, they issued me a temporary license on the spot, and I’ll just have to go in and prove that I’ve retained my skill set to get fully reinstated. Lately, I’ve been working more with nail art techniques. I’m fully licensed to do nails, and I’ve worked with acrylics quite bit, but gel nails weren’t really big in the industry when I got certified, so that was something I learned more recently and would love to play around with more.

I would love to open up my own full-service salon one day, but that is an expensive endeavor, so it will have to remain a dream for now. In the meantime, I’m setting up the building blocks to one day potentially make it a reality. I have the highest class of cosmetology license, I have my business degree, and I’m an expert in online marketing. I have started adding more cosmetology-related videos to my YouTube channel after livestreaming the tutorials on YouNow, where I’ve been performing quite a bit recently. I used to have quite the following on my YouTube channel, but have slacked off on it over the last couple of years. I do still have over 30,000 views on my channel and almost 300 subscribers. If you haven’t seen it yet, I urge you to go check it out.
